Another option - growlnotify & GNTP libraries
If your favorite application doesn't support Growl yet but does offer an API, you can use the growlnotify command line script or one of the available GNTP libraries to send notifications.
Here are some examples of using this technique to Growl-enable an application:
- Trillian Astra (growlnotify)
- Subversion (Perl library)
- Twitter (Ruby library)
- Biff (POP email checker) (Ruby library)
- Asterisk (VoIP) (Ruby library)
Growl + Snarl = Gnarl(y)
If your favorite application doesn't yet support GFW, but it does have Snarl support, then you can use Gnarly, a Snarl-to-Growl bridge.
This is an experimental version, so there may be some bugs or quirky issues.
Favorite application not listed?
While we are working hard to get more apps to support Growl for Windows, we know there are a lot more apps out there.
The easiest way to let us know which apps you want to see supported is by leaving a comment in the Supported Application Wishlist thread.
Even better - contact the creators of the software and let them know that you would like to see Growl support added. Most applications have a feedback page or a forum where you can post suggestions.
And if you are a developer, why not add GFW support yourself? Check out the resources on the Developers page to get started.
